If your books live in Xero, we work inside your organization. Transactions arrive through the bank feed each day, and our part is the checking that sits on top: confirming each suggested match is right, coding what is not matched and keeping the reconciliation honest.
Xero setup and support is part of our bookkeeping services. Support can include:

What Xero is
Xero is online accounting software made by Xero Limited. Xero describes it as software for small businesses and lists self employed people, nonprofits, startups, construction firms and real estate businesses among them, with medium sized businesses and accountants and bookkeepers also named. It runs in a browser, which makes it easy to share access with the people who help with your books.
What a bookkeeper actually works with
- Bank feeds. Xero says bank transactions import automatically each day once the bank is connected.
- Reconciliation. Imported transactions are matched against your records. Xero says its tool can reconcile matches it is confident about automatically while you keep the final approval. Reviewing those matches is still part of the job.
- Invoicing. Branded invoices can carry an online payment button, and automated reminders can chase late payers.
- Reports. Profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reports update as transactions are recorded.
- Apps. The Xero App Store connects it to hundreds of third party apps, per Xero.
- Multi currency. Xero's page lists multiple currencies only on its top plan.
Plan structure
Xero names its three plans Early, Growing and Established. Plan names, limits and features change, so check Xero's current comparison before deciding. Note that the multiple currency feature sits on the highest of the three.
Things to check
- Whether the plan you need includes the features you rely on, such as foreign currency.
- Whether the apps you use for payroll, payments or inventory have a Xero connection.
- If you are moving from another system, whether your old books are fully reconciled before you switch.
- Whether your tax preparer works in Xero.

Can you clean up an old Xero file?
Yes. In Xero that usually means clearing a backlog of unreconciled bank lines, correcting matches that were accepted too quickly and tidying coding. We review the file first, then quote a fixed fee for the cleanup.
Do you prepare tax returns?
No. Tax preparation is outside our services. We coordinate with your CPA or tax professional so your books support the work they do.
